Hi Em,
Hope you are fine. I have had a good weekend. Last night Alex, Stan and Stan's wife,Ruth came to my house for dinner. I think you will remember them from church. Alex, Stan and I all used to help out at the English Conversation Classes together. I tried out a couple of new recipes from the cooking book my friend, Karen, gave to me (i.e. a vegetarian Indian stew and a rice & chickpea dish) and they were very nice, so I was pleased about that :-).
I have been doing more on the native "wetland' / pond in the garden. The native nursery in Blackburn was open today (it only opens every fourth Sunday of the month), so I got some native wetland plants and also some other native plants to put in around the pond. I managed to plant all the wetland plants before it got dark but I still need to plant the others. See below for a photo showing the progress (Do you think it is getting better? I hope so!)

All the very best Em and have a great week.
Lots and lots of love,
Aaron :-)

Hi Emma,
I hope you are well, Miss Em. Sorry that I haven't updated this web diary for a bit. I'll try to be more organised from now on! I have been trying to build a pond for frogs in the back garden. Grandma in New Zealand sent me an article on constructing a native Australian mini wetland from a garden magazine and I have been following that. Actually there was already an small, old pond in the back garden but it was overgrown, dirty and lined with concrete. So I have cleaned it out and removed the concrete from the sides, so they are less steep and good for attracting wildlife (well, that is my hope!). Here are a couple of photos that show my progress so far.
Obviously I need keep going and to put some plants in and around the pond to make it look nice (but it is a start!).
Hope all is well with you Em and sending you my love and very best wishes.
Lots and lots of love,
Aaron :-)
